Part-time lecturers of Osmania University and its affiliated colleges protested in front of the administration block here on Friday.
Hyderabad: Part-time lecturers of Osmania University and its affiliated colleges protested in front of the administration block here on Friday.
Hundreds of lecturers who hold a doctorate and have workload equivalent to that of the permanent staff have been demanding the university officials to increase their wages. The protesters urged the management to provide them job security and give them the status of contract staff if not for a permanent status to ensure that their work experience would secure them brighter opportunities.
A part-time lecturer, on condition of anonymity said, “We are only paid Rs 475 per class and during the time of examination we stay unemployed because the experience that we have in Osmania University doesn’t fetch us jobs in other colleges or universities.”
