The fifth day of the SFA Hyderabad Championship witnessed some explosive kicks and blows as the Indoor Stadium here turned into the sole venue for combat sports – Taekwondo, Judo and Karate. Students were seen dawning their white uniform as they threw some hard punches and strikes on Wednesday.

Gachibowli: The fifth day of the SFA Hyderabad Championship witnessed some explosive kicks and blows as the Indoor Stadium here turned into the sole venue for combat sports – Taekwondo, Judo and Karate. Students were seen dawning their white uniform as they threw some hard punches and strikes on Wednesday.

Taekwondo had a total of 273 participants, of which 10 were National level and 14 were State level players. Judo, on the other hand had 118 registrations, of which 16 were National level while nine have played for their State. Karate had the maximum of the three with 344 students, with seven students who have represented India internationally, 24 National and nine State level fighters.

In addition, the first day of Table Tennis saw over 350 participants. It was a feast to watch players use the backhand technique and backspin with finesse at such a young age. The highlight, of course, was when a player surprised the audience with a drop shot. The coaches were seen instructing their students from time to time, adopting multiple strategies to defeat the opponent.

Sports such as football, basketball and volleyball continued with their fiery streak on the fifth day of the Championship.
