Jubilee Hills: Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Telangana and Andhra Sub Area addressed an Army Symposium on the subject “Shaping our immediate neighbourhood: India’s biggest Security challenge” at Dr MCR HRD Institute here on Wednesday.

B P Acharya, Special Chief Secretary Planning and Director General and B Venkateshwara Rao, Additional Director General of the Institute and senior Army Officials attended the symposium. The GOC presented the medals for the winners of the Army Essay Competition 2017 conducted for the officer trainees.

Addressing the officer trainees, the GOC highlighted the national security environment of the country and said that the neighbourhood had become particularly challenging due to its complexity and unpredictability. The General Officer covered wide range of issues with respect to the existing neighbourhood scenario and recommended strategies and way forward for dealing with them. Later, a question and answer session was held and queries raised by the officer trainees were clarified by the GOC.

The GOC appreciated the endeavours of the Institute towards optimising and integrating management philosophy in the field of governance and in conducting capacity building programmes. He applauded the institution for having evolved as centre of excellence and a premier institute in the state and country and congratulated medal winning officer trainees.

Mohit Handa, IPS won the gold medal, Ganesh Kumar, Indian Postal Service won the silver medal and Wavhal Vaibhav Balasaheb, IRS received the bronze medal. The symposium was held for the officer trainees of the 92nd Foundation Course.
