Hyderabad: The Arekatika Porata Samithi on Friday took up protest near Assembly on Friday demanding inclusion of their cast in Scheduled Casts from BC D.
The Samithi president G Sudhakar said that the Arekatikas have been included in Scheduled Caste in 19 states in the country whereas in Telangana their caste is included under BC D category. “The Arekatikas are backward both financially and politically and need government support,” said Sudhakar.
He said that the government should provide separate federation for the Arekatikas. Police arrested the protesting workers of Samithi. Samithi leaders M Srinivas, Balaji, Gurucharan,Prashant, Pentaji, Mallesh and others workers participated.
