Marredpally: St Andrews School hosted its first ever theatre festival, ‘Stage Craft’ at its premises here on Friday. The two-day festival was inaugurated at both branches of the school and the audience was treated to ten plays, presented by students from classes III to XII, with themes ranging from those of the old classics, such as ‘The Gift of the Magi’, ‘Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Julius Caesar’, to contemporary social issues such as ‘Beti Bachai’ and ‘Bhrashtachar’.

The performances similarly reflected an array of styles, from traditional stage performances to the “nukkad natak” form of theatre. Young actors performed with enthusiasm, leaving the audience spellbound with a mix of education and entertainment that characterised every play. An amalgamation of classic storytelling, innovation, passionate performances and thought-provoking messages was the focus of the theatre festival, which was well received by audience and participants alike.
