Madhapur: The 45th edition of the Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroha, will make an impressive beginning with the living legend Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj paying tribute to his gurus and mesmerise the audience with his divine voice on Thursday. The three-day music festival will conclude with the popular Sufi Qawwali by Shankar Shambhu Jr on Saturday.

Speaking to media at CCRT, along with Padmashri Trupti Mukherjee; Padma Vibhushan Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj, said the Samaroha will present eminent artistes and cultural ambassadors of music along with some of the contemporary maestros and young rising stars of our great tradition of Indian Music.

Speaking on the occasion Pandit Jasraj said, “The festival is held in the memory of my gurus, father Sangeet Ratna Pandit Motiram and elder brother Sangeet Mahanohopadhya Pandit Maniram, as a musical tribute to them and is being hosted without interruption since 1972. The visit to Hyderabad every year holds great sanctity for me and is therefore a pilgrimage, as my father was laid to rest in this city and his samadhi is at Amberpet. He passed away a few hours before he was to be honoured as the Royal singer in the court of the Nizam, (today known as the Chowmahalla Palace), on November 30, 1934; I was only 4-years-old at that time.”

“Hence, I have a deep emotional bond with the City of Hyderabad and the people here. I have spent my childhood in the lanes of Nampally, Jambagh, Narayanaguda, those lanes are today big arterial roads,” he said.

This year the music extravaganza will have stalwarts mesmerising the audience to the hilt with some soul-stirring music. The music fest will be held at the CCRT here between 7.30pm and 10.00 pm.
