Tandur: Two aides of a Minister are accused of unauthorised construction of shopping complexes in the town without obtaining the necessary approvals.

The civic body officials have turned a blind eye towards the unauthorised construction activity.

Permissions from authorities are necessary for house constructions, plan approvals, to pull down old structures and etc. However, the rules seem to not apply to those who have clout and political power. The following are the instances where one is not meeting the requirements set by the civic body for building constructions.

There is a dispute going on about the Bhavigi Bhadreswar temple land in the town. The matter is sub-judice and family members of Kalva Sankar are parties to the dispute. However, there are allegations that the temple trust chairman Shetty Amit Kumar is building a shopping complex on the disputed site without necessary permissions from the civic body. However, Kalva Sankar has obtained a stay order from the Hyderabad High Court seeking suspension of the construction activity. After receiving the copy of the stay order, the municipal authorities stopped the construction activities.

Similar is the case with the land belonging to the Station Hanuman temple in the town. Without obtaining the necessary approvals, an old building on the site was demolished and replaced with a two-storey shopping complex.

The builders of the shopping complexes are stated to be right-hand men of the Minister. It was alleged that the duo was going about building the shopping complexes without apparent fear of inviting the official wrath for violation of the rules.

When Municipal Councillor Aravind Kumar broached the subject with the civic officials, they evaded a direct reply. The municipal councillor is preparing the ground to approach the State-level officials in the Municipal Administration Department.

When contacted Bhavigi Bhadreswar Temple Trust chairman Shetty Amit, he said that they had already applied to the municipal corporation for the permission. He claimed that they have authentic documents pertaining to the land. According to him, the members of Kalva family have alienated the land fifty years back.

Municipal Commissioner Bhogiswar categorically denied according permission to the two constructions. He said that the civic staff stopped the construction activities in the Bhadreswar temple lands after receiving the High Court stay order. He said, everyone should obtain permission from municipal authorities for any sort of construction. He said that he would prepare a full report on the ground situation and submit to the higher authorities.
