Civic negligence turns luxury area into crap

Secunderabad: With an uber-luxurious building on one hand and a host of civic issues including a slum on the other, the area near Manasarovar Heights here is tarnished by incessant civic negligence for over two years now. Open nalas, bad roads, stray pigs roaming in residential area and garbage in the open is a never-ending cause of concern to residents and passers-by.

Thousands of motorists, school and RTC buses travel on this route and despite representations to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials have been turning a blind eye towards the problem.

Sharing details about the situation, a resident of Manasarovar Heights Divya Rocha informed that stray pigs enter the residential area and that they dwell in the open nala. She said that the ‘Heights’, which is known for its “magnificent” view are nothing but a tragic now owing to the situation that has turned worst. “Authorities have not taken any action till date. Even the road has not been repaired here,” she said.

Another resident Subhoda said that there are nearly 300 flats in the building and that residents constantly have to bear the brunt of bumpy rides and stink from the nala. “What’s worse is that there is no drinking water supply in the area,” she revealed.

A commuter Ketan Sanghavi rued, “I travel on this stretch and the situation of the area has turned from bad to worst what with the stray dogs and pigs entering residential area. We have been paying tax to the GHMC, but the officials have not taken up cleaning work.”

When contacted Deputy Municipal Commissioner (DMC) of Secunderabad zone Ravi Kumar passed the buck and said, “Manasarovar Heights does not come under Secunderabad zone. You may want to consult Kukapally zonal officer.”
