Khairtabad: The people of the city were taken by surprise when a flash-mob at a local mall danced their way to create awareness about respiratory ailments here recently. The group, ‘Dance with Purpose’ performed a set to create awareness about how a disease like asthma should not come in one’s way to lead a healthier-normal-life.

The flash-mob event was an initiative under #BerokZindagi campaign which was recently launched in the city. The initiative encourages and educates asthmatics and simultaneously busting misconception about the disease. It strives to establish inhalers as the smartest choice to combat the illness.

The flash-mob was joined by ace badminton star Parupalli Kashyap, who was diagnosed with asthma in 2004. Amidst claps and cheers, Kashyap said, “I am leading a normal and an active life. Despite asthma, I succeeded at both international and national badminton circuits and won accolades for the country and myself. The disease never proved a hurdle for me because I put a lot of effort to overcome the problem using appropriate medication which is called inhalation therapy.”

Commenting on the purpose of the campaign, Nikhil Chopra, India Business Head at Cipla stated, “Our campaign #BerokZindagihas takes the onus to increase awareness and debunk myths surrounding asthma and therapies. Around 60-70 percent of overall patient population is on sub-optimal oral medication while inhalation which is the safest and the most effective mode of treatment, languishes in usage. We aim to provide right treatment to millions of patients across the country.”
