Secunderabad: A large number of people claim that they have been removed from the voters list and quite a few dead people still find a place in the list. With the last date to file complaints and suggestions nearing, the citizens of Secunderabad Cantonment are a worried lot. The Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls (IRER) that started on August 5, 2017 has a lot of gaps in spite of the use of technology that included using a tablet and geo-tagging.

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) awarded the IRER work to Karvy Data Management Services. Each tablet operator visited a house thrice. An operator said that the name was deleted only after a third visit. In all, there are 233 polling booths in the cantonment with 2.10 lakh voters.

A Parashuram, coordinating officer, SCB said, “There is still time and people can visit the office to make the changes. The operators in several cases visited houses time and again but people did not cooperate.

” Till date there have been 70 deletions and 34,000 additions. B Srinivas Reddy of ward no 5 who also contested in the board elections said, “My name is missing. Also there are a lot of duplications. In Page 14 and 21 the name is repeated.” On January 18, the final list will be published.
