Hyderabad: Strengthening their resolve to make the Metro a reality in the Old City, Metro Rail Joint Action Committee vowed to intensify their measures. In this regard, JAC leaders will conduct a Padayatra for the cause on December 17. The rally will move from Mir Alam Mandi to Shah Ali Banda.

In a major move to make the dream of Metro in Old City a reality, political parties joined hands to unite for the cause through the Metro Rail Join Action Committe

The JAC leaders said that they joined hands cutting across the invisible lines divided their political parties only for the cause of people’s prosperity and will ensure that the Metro Rail is brought to the Old City.

Interacting with media on Monday, Rashid Shareef from TRS said that if the Metro comes to Old City, it would bring employment, development and prosperity. He said that people can earn more than what they have been earning so far.

He claimed that interactions with owners whose properties were in the way of the earlier proposed Metro Rail were also agreed upon and the data of consent would be sent to the Chief Minister soon.

Ale Bhaskar from BJP said that it was for the first time that parties with different ideologies have joined together only for the cause of Metro Rail and it was important to be noticed. He said that every section was affected with the Metro Rail and if minor compromises were made, the dream of Metro can be true.

The JAC leaders alleged that a few local political parties were unnecessarily opposing the Metro Rail. E T Narasimha from CPI said that in the wake of fears of properties that could be damaged, HMRL came up with a new route however, that would increase the cost of construction.

“The new proposal of the Metro route for Falaknuma, would be 7 km extra and would cost Rs 600 to Rs 700 crore as per HMRL authorities,” he said.
Political leaders were invited to participate in the rally on December 17. Meanwhile, JAC leaders said that they would intensify their struggle after the rally.
