ECIL X Roads: Protesting against the government for turning a blind eye towards the problems of Road Transport Corporation workers, the Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) organised a two-day relay strike in front of the Kushaiguda bus depot, which commenced on Thursday.
Despite working in buses that are unsafe and which broke down in heavy traffic congestions, workers complained that they are paid on irregular intervals thereby affecting their living conditions.
They asked the government to all conduct a survey of routes in order to help the drivers from being stuck in traffic jams causing inconvenience to the commuters. Apart from filling vacancies in the department, the union demanded the government to provide safe and healthy working conditions for the workers.
“We are asking only for recognition to the work we do. Despite several attempts for a peaceful treaty our demands are not being met. Hence, we had to publicly protest for our rights. All the workers are asking is a fair wage to their labour and an up gradation in their working standards,” expressed Annumula Narshimha Reddy, TMU President.
