Somajiguda: Sitting across Necklace Road, surrounded by constant activity through the course of the year, M S Maktha is a busy settlement. In a neighbourhood such as M S Maktha, basic amenities are not present and through the art project we hope to bring light to these problems. With authorities and politicians visiting the area, they will get an inside view of how the neighbourhood functions

In this regard, the public art project, which was created as part of Street Art Festival, was inaugurated by MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao here. Later, he created a stencil spray titled ‘M S Maktha Art District’ that will be placed at the entrance of the public art district in days to come.

Art Telangana trustee and Government Advisor BV Papa Rao said, “Having travelled across various towns, I look at cities from the perspective of a politician and an art lover. I am a huge supporter of art and culture in Telangana and when I saw the work that St+art India Foundation had done in New Delhi I wanted to invite them to Hyderabad. We proposed that they take over M S Maktha with art and design interventions.”

“Having started the public art district with the boundary walls of M S Maktha, the project has now visited the entire neighbourhood, which is truly commendable,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Giulia Ambrogi, Co-Founder & Festival Curator, St+art India Foundation said, “In a neighbourhood such as M S Maktha, basic amenities are not present and through the art project we hope to bring light to the problems the neighbourhood faces. With authorities and politicians visiting the area for the art project, they will get an inside view of how the neighbourhood functions.”

“Through this public art project, we hope to flourish the neighbourhood and create an impact on everyone’s lives. Art also activates new dynamics in areas by bringing people from different sectors of society together and in this sense, the public art project in Hyderabad is going to break boundaries through the medium of art,” he said.
