Mallapur: The residents of Mallapur will now have a recreational space after a long wait of 15 years in the form of 'Indoor stadium'. Upto one lakh residents were forced to confine their activities within their homes due to pollution in the area owing to traffic congestion and wastes that were released directly into air from the factories here. Many times, people faced lack of space in and around their residential areas as the empty grounds were being blocked by vendors.
The stadium was proposed at Beerapagadda, Mallapur last week at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crores. It would consist of indoor games, swimming pool and park both for children and elders. The stadium can also be used as common celebration point by the residents of the area- Devender Reddy, Mallapur Corporator
Aditya Rao, a software employee and a resident of Mallapur said, "There are so many unknown faces seen in my area. I am scared to send my child out in the locality to play along with his friends, as there is no safe place around the locality.”
Mohan Rao, a senior citizen added, "The vendors are encroaching walk-way of the main road, which has made the streets accident prone. We are scared to go out for walks be it morning or evening. Despite a complaint being filed about the issue to the police, no action was taken.”
Residents lament that there is no common point in Mallapur where all people can meet up for social gatherings during festivals or conduct any kind of events. “For the past 15 years, we are conducting any activity outside the locality. This is the reason why most of us do not know each other,” said a resident.
Meanwhile, Devender Reddy, Mallapur Corporator informed that a proposal has been submitted to officials to construct the indoor stadium. “The stadium has been proposed at Beerapagadda, Mallapur last week at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crores.
It would consist of indoor games, swimming pool and park both for children and elders. The stadium can also be used as common celebration point by the residents of the area," he said.
