Hyderabad: Construction of the underpass near Ayyappa Society junction at Madhapur is completed prior to its deadline, and is now ready for inauguration. The underpass awaits the nod from Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister K T Rama Rao.

It may be recalled that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had taken up the project in August 2016 under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) at a cost of Rs 9 crore. The two-lane underpass is 450 meters long and 10 meters wide.

A 132 Kilo Volts electric line was shifted to construct the underpass and GHMC has paid the compensation amount to the electricity department.

The Ayyappa Society junction witnesses traffic movement of 9,000 vehicles per hour. However, after the underpass is open of the public it is expected to reduce traffic jams in the IT corridor especially during peak hours.
