Hyderabad: Members of the Sikh community across the city are preparing for one of the largest festivals of Sikhism from December 23 to 25 commemorating the birth of their last Guru, Gobind Singh.

Nagar Keertan (procession), Vishaal Deewan and other activities would be held as part of the celebrations. The Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda management announced the details of the programme on Friday.

While Vishaal Deewan would be held at Nizam College Grounds, Nagar Keertan would start from Gowliguda Gurudwara.

The Prabhandak Committee President, S Inder Singh informed that the ‘Nagar Keertan’ will be taken out on a grand scale on December 23 at around 4.30pm that will pass through Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj, Siddiamber Bazar, M J Market, Jambagh, Putlibowli and return to Gurudwara Sahib in the evening.

Over 20,000 devotees will take part in the procession in which Guru Granth Sahebji will be carried on a decorated vehicle. The major attraction of the procession will be the display of ‘Gatka’ martial arts form and other breath-taking sword exercises by Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha.
