Abuse survivors croon qawwali

Hyderabad: It was a motivating sight as women, who survived abuse of various kind, performed a special ‘Qawwali’ programme here recently. The women, who were members of city-based Shaheen Welfare Association, were survivors of domestic abuse and acid attacks.

Crooning popular numbers in Urdu and Dakhini language, the women displayed remarkable strength and humility, as they faced the audience and hundreds of cameras that flashed in front of them. Visitors at the event, too were moved by their strength and enjoyed the performance to the fullest.
