Hyderabad: City-based karate master, Abu Sufyan (Black Belt 5th Dan) received the ‘International Peace Award’ here recently.

The award was conferred at the ‘International Peace and Development Conference’ as a recognition of his services towards inculcating self-defence knowledge among children through karate classes, social services for the community, and other altruistic efforts. The award was presented by UN Ambassador, M A Najeeb.

Expressing his delight and gratitude on the honour, Sufyan said, “I did not make the journey alone. Numerous people supported me along the way.”

“It is an honour to receive the International Peace Award. I know I join a list of distinguished women and men who received this recognition. I know as well that you are paying tribute not only to me, but to the work of the United Nations and especially the brave and dedicated fellow members who bring our charter to life every day,” he said.

Thirty-two international delegates apart from guests attended the conference held at a prominent hotel in the city. Magistrate Basha Nawaz Khan, Ambassador M A Najeeb, Janki Lagdapati Raj Gopal and Md Imaduddin Naveed were among those present.
