A Sudhakar Reddy, a senior traffic cop of Hyderabad Police station told The Hans India, “We are closely monitoring the people who are on vehicle and are booking them if they are not wearing helmets, if they are caught under drunken and drive case, rash driving and people who are not wearing seat belts and random checking of vehicles for papers.”

He further added, “From 1st January 2018 to 7th January 2018 we have booked around 400 cases under the above mentioned category out of which more than 200 cases are without helmet cases.

It is a proactive measure to ensure that the accidents reduce in the zone.”
When asked about the amounts being fined, A Sudhakar Reddy said, “For people who are caught without helmets we are charging them a fine of Rs 200, and apart from that for the other categories we are fining between Rs 100 to Rs 200. He further added, “At an average we conduct a random checking for 150 vechicles for papers, out of which 60 to 80 vehicles are given challans for not lack of proper papers. If there is more than 10 challans pending for person, a charge sheet is issued against them.”

The daily timings for the traffic cops for checking starts at 11:30am in the morning and ends at 4:30pm in the evening. When asked about their source of inspiration for their commitment, A Sudhakar Reddy told The Hans India, “Our new year resolution is to bring down the rates of accidents happening on the roads and spread awareness on the same. We will continue with our efforts till the mishaps zeroes out.”
