Rajendranagar: The faculty members of School of Advanced International studies, John Hopkins institute, USA and Business school graduates met Dr V Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University(PJTSAU) on Monday.
They interacted with VC on various issues related to agriculture and more particularly on implementation of crop insurance in the state. The delegates of John Hopkins institute requested the vice chancellor to extend support in carrying out their study in the state on implementation of agricultural insurance in India and particularly in Telangana.
The study of the Hopkins team mainly deals with the present status of the agricultural insurance system in India and how it can be improved further to provide more benefits to individual farmers and also they would study on how to implement Agricultural insurance with Public Private Partnership(PPP) mode to ensure more benefits to the farming community.
In this regard they requested the Vice Chancellor to help the university in carrying out the survey with the farmers in the state. Responding to their request VC assured them that,
the university will organize a one day seminar with stakeholders like farmers, agricultural insurance experts, agri business and Agriculture Economics Faculty, Agriculture department officials etc. in between 17th to 20th January to discuss on various issues related with Agricultural Insurance.
