Hyderabad: Battery driven cars and two-wheelers are gaining ground in the city, especially among retired people. Low on cost and maintenance, two-wheeler bikes are now becoming popular among senior citizens.

Md Inayath who owns a battery scooter said “With just four hours of charging, the scooter runs for around 40-50 km. It is comfortable, easy on the pocket and also user-friendly for retired people.”

Another lady, Sunita Naik, a resident of Pahadi Shareef, a retired school teacher says, “The battery bikes are a boon for people like us. They are easy to handle and there is no need to go to the petrol pump. Luckily, we stay in an independent house and we have no problems of charging.”

Mohammed Younus, a student concurs with others, he says, “These bikes are really good but charging is the only issue. Even my parents are planning to buy one.”
