The residents have been demanding for double-bedroom houses at vegetable market here. People who have been living in huts behind the market are taking up series of protests demanding double-bed room houses for them. The double-bedroom housing scheme is presently in progress at West Marredpally, Rasoolpura and Mudfort. Work at the three sites is in various stages of completion.

Future proposals
1. Pittal Basti (Triumalgherry): 1300 Sq.yards 60 house sites
2. Narayan Jopidi Sangam (Rasoolpura): Two acre. 300 house sites
3. Railnilayam Ambedkar Nagar (Monda division): Approximately 150 house sites
4. Jayaprakash nagar (Monda division): 80 house sites
5. Seeking 4000 Sq. yards of land beside Bowenpally market yard, where there is 9000 sq.yards government land. In which 4,500 sq. yards may be given to minority welfare commission to construct minority residential school
6. Subhash nagar (Balamrai): 2000 Sq. yards, 100 house sites
Though there have been minor hiccups at West Marredpally site, the project has taken off and is moving at fast pace. A large number of people living in clusters in the cantonment have been protesting to be included.
A local leader Mallesh said, “MLA G Sayanna assured us that he would take up the issue to the notice of higher officials.” Meanwhile, the MLA said that the housing scheme would have all amenities including wide roads, drainage and water.
Locals have been asking for double bedroom houses at Bowenpally market yard where there is 9,000 sq yards of government land. The future proposals are at Pittal Basti, Rasoolpura, Ambedkar Nagar, Jayaprakash Nagar and Subhash Nagar.
