Officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) informed that about 10 per cent installation work would be completed soon.
Some areas where the LED lighting are already in place are at Bengaluru road, Srisailam road and Airport road. Few internal streets and roads are left for the work and that is expected to be completed in few months.

GHMC officials said that as part of the LED electrification of street lights, South Zone circles were able to save up to 42 per cent of the total expenditure on electricity bills.
In the year 2016, the total units used in Old City were 52,79, 863 costing about Rs 3,99,16,154 crore. On the other hand, units by the end of December 2017 were recorded to be 30,40,831 amounting to Rs 2,39,36,370 crore. This saved about Rs 1,59,79,384 crore of the government.
GHMC electricity executive engineer Ganesh K said that government could save about 42 per cent of the total expenditure on electricity with the use of LED street lights. People appreciated the installation of LED lights and appealed the government to carry out the same work in internal roads too.
