Charminar: One of the oldest landmarks in Old City, the Charminar Bus Station will no more be in use now. The station that has served hundreds of people for several years, will now be razed to ground to construct a multi-level parking facility in that place.
TSRTC has stopped the movement of buses into the existing station from January 24. Most of the buses moving from Charminar bus station have already been diverted from Shah Ali Band few years ago.

Falaknuma Depot Manager Sameera Afreen informed that mini buses and other buses will not be available at Charminar bus station for commuters from January 24 and will run from the other spots.

The basic exercise of alternative arrangements has already been done. Buses running from Charminar station belonging to Maheshwaram, Falaknuma, Mehdipatnam, Midhani, Kukatpally, Rani Gunj and others will be diverted, she said.

As part of the diversions, 30 mini buses that travel towards Charminar bus station, would now turn back from Nayab Function Hall. Buses of the Charminar embarkation point towards different other locations in city would be diverted from Shah Ali Band, Khilwat, Moti Galli, Musa Bowli, Petla Burj, Darushifa, Purani Haveli, Mughalpura and further.
Buses going towards Maheshwaram would now run from Afzal Gunj and MGBS. On the other hand, the bus pass counter of Charminar Bus Station is tentatively shifted to Himmatpura Bus Shelter.

It is to be witnessed that small entrepreneurs would be affected with this decision as the people who walk along the bus station would decrease drastically. There are few eateries, internet centres and other businesses that thrived on the moving population for several years.

The bus station has served the people for almost two decades.
