Hyderabad: Two months down the line after its inauguration on November 25, the newest point for cultural and recreational activities- Apollo Foundation Theatre - ensconced in the spacious premises of Apollo Hospitals at Jubilee Hills is finding its feet. After a promotional month in December in which the Foundation invited theatre groups and music troupes to perform, the impact of its efforts is slowly becoming visible as the weekend bookings in January are over.

‘ We have had a good mix of activities over the past few weeks and the month end weekend is going to be comprising stand-up comedy shows and other events’ informs Sujata Sengupta Reddy, Cultural Manager of the venue. Inaugurated with a Bharatanatyam performance by Radhe Jaggi on November 25, the venue has till now seen film shows in honour of Hindi film directors like Kundan Shah whose ‘ Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’ was screened in his memory as he passed away in October last year.

There have been enthusiastic responses to the events that have been organised, understandably, as there were screenings of popular Telugu films too like ‘ Maya Bazaar’ and celebrating the 25th year of the 1992 blockbuster of megastar Chiranjeevi – Gharana Mogudu. The space is being offered for cultural performances like Bharatanatyam and Mohini Attam and also Vilasini Natyam to counter balance the popular art forms like theatre and comedy shows.
