Adjoining electric poles posing threat

Hyderabad: The electric poles are bending on to a side with the weights of high tension electric wires, internet wires, star cable connection wires tied to them. The electricity department should take action on these tied-up bundles of wires to the poles as they are leading to bending of poles and are posing threat.

Also, these electric poles are fixed very close to the buildings, houses in the city. The wires are also left loose and tied unproperly on to poles and these wires are reachable to children from the first floor of buildings. They can cause electric shocks to children if parents are a little negligent.

It is a common sight to witness star connection cables and internet cables are seen hanging from the electric poles. Also, the wires will be hanging and loosely tied and there is no one to handle the issue. Even after complaint, there is no quick response from the electricity department. This electricity poles adjoining to houses are found all through the city.

Mohd Hameed, a resident of Rein Bazaar, said that these electric poles are so close to the buildings that the parents are in constant fear as they are worried of their children playing in balconies and on terrace, may come in contact with these wires. “The electric poles are very dangerous as the wires are not tied in sequence and also few of the wires are damaged,” he added.

In last rainy season, there was a short circuit on one of the poles due to which many electronic items had been damaged in houses. The construction of houses, both old and new, are facing problems in the process of their constructions as the poles are fixed very closer to their houses. The old and damaged wires should be replaced with new wires and the bundles of wire which are tied unproperly and which are hanging should be addressed to avoid mishaps.
