Hyderabad: White dress, white cap, shoes, belt and a special dress code—this is the uniform being provided to the caretakers of public toilets in the City, at the instance of Minister K Tarakarama Rao, who wants them to be respected and given better facilities.
The dress code is part of the steps GHMC is taking to ensure that the toilets are maintained clean and make them attractive for use.

The over 500 caretakers make sure that personal hygiene is maintained at the public toilets in GHMC limits. Nowhere else in the country such dress code is being implemented.

The toilets, being made available free of charge as part of the Swachh Hyderabad initiative, have become presentable thanks to the dress code. The caretakers’ dress kits are being provided by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). Each is given two sets to ensure that the dress does not get soiled.

The caretakers make sure that beautiful Rangoli is displayed in front of the toilets and saplings are planted. Such steps have paved the way for more people using the toilets, GHMC officials told The Hans India. City residents feel that with neatly dressed attendants the toilets have become attractive.
