Secunderabad: P Bhagyasree, board member ward No 7 walked out of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) meeting here on Thursday alleging apathetic attitude of the SCB on the issue of removing the dump yard at the Mahatma Gandhi community hall.

Highlights:

• The SCB failed in finding an alternative site for dumping waste which is now being dumped at the Mahatma Gandhi community hall
• Board assures to zero in on a site in the next 20 days

Minutes into the meeting, the board member raised the issue and wanted the board to include the topic of removing the dump yard from the community hall. While the members deliberated on the issue, the Congress party backed Bhagyasree walked out of the meeting.

The president of SCB Manish Upadhyaya informed that in the next 20 days he would be visiting different sites including the land parcel that the ward No 7 member had proposed and would decide to set up a dump yard.

The board had decided to zero down on a site in the last board meeting as well but there has been no progress on this front.Presently, the community hall at Trimulgherry is being used as a transit point for collection of garbage which is later shifted to Jawahar Nagar dump yard.
