Hyderabad: Bringing laurels to the State, the team of marital art fighters from the city won four gold, three silver, and ten bronze medals at the recent National Jiu Jitsu Championship. The team of nine fighters led by coach, Raziuddin Shahed faced counterparts from 24 States that participated in the tournament held in Kochi; seven of them won medals.

Informing about the achievement here on Monday, the coach said, “This is a remarkable tally for the team. They trained hard for five months prior to the event and were determined to win.” Congratulating the winners and brining onus on women in sports, he added, “We are proud to have Gunjita Singh, who won a gold medal in the senior’s category. Her achievement will inspire others to take up this martial arts form.”
