Hyderabad: The Old Samakhana of Dargah Yusufain is in shambles and so ill maintained that its plaster is ripped from many places. The Waqf Board authorities have given this area on contract to a private party for renting to the visitors coming here.

The Sama Khana was constructed during the time of Seventh Nizam and now it is under severe negligence of authorities. It is a place in Dargah where Qawwalis are conducted, sermons are delivered and it is used for gathering and listening to the religious lectures.

Visitors come and sit here seeking inner peace however, the maintenance of Sama Khana is neglected. Private contractor charges Re 1 from each visitor but neglects and maintenance and upkeep of this structure.

Several representations to the Waqf board officials turned out to be futile so far. Activist Ifteqar said that Waqf authorities must take action to save this structure otherwise it would add up to the other old ruins in the city. He said that lack of maintenance can result in any mishap at any time since Sama Khana building was more than 50 years old.
