Hyderabad: The Society for Employment Promotion & Training in Twin Cities (SETWIN) has urged the State government to introduce 200 new Setwin buses to operate in some isolated localities of the city which are still not having bus facilities.

The SETWIN Chairman Mir Inayath Ali Baqri said, “SETWIN runs 100 buses in the city and makes a profit of Rs 25 lakh per year. We have requested to the transport department recently to provide some more buses to operate for convenience of the people.”

Refuting the claims by the TSRTC that SETWIN eats into its profits, Mir Inayath Ali Baqri said, “It is the Uber, Ola Cabs, autos and the newly started metro rail that has made a difference and not Setwin. Moreover, Setwin creates employment and encourages self-employment.”

There is a scope for 300 Setwin buses to ply in the twin cities, avers Bakri. Setwin started under the patronage of Chief Minister M Channa Reddy with the Chairman and Managing Director Khader Ali Khan. After formation of Telangana State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao appointed P Vidyanadha Rao as Managing Director of Setwin in 2015. Mir Inayath Ali Baqri was appointed as Chairman in 2017.

He further added that the aim of Setwin is to encourage self-employment. The cabs service will start from April and banks will provide finance assistance to unemployed youth.

Another initiative, ‘Food on Wheels’ will also start with 600 tricycle food carts which will be supplied by 24 hours in the city soon.
