Excerpts from the interview
According to you how important are the lyrics of a song for a singer? Have you ever been taken aback by song lyrics presented to you?
Lyrics play vital part in audio or video tracks, not just for a singer but for a music composer, a director or an actor as well, as the lyrics only justify the emotion.
How much time it took to compose T20 team India anthem song?
Wooo! It was like “How to get this started?” what genre should I go with then I realised that I always had this song in my head, Come on India (1999) by Shankar Mahadevan, and there I made the theme of the song and then it didn’t take me much time to finish the composition.
What changes would you like to see in the music industry? For example, there are lots of cases of lifting tunes, ghost lyricists?
What I have noticed is lot of ghost lyricists and composers don't get their credits. People should respect talent and encourage it instead of going against ethics and killing talent.
If you had to describe you are music in three or four words what would you call it.
Music is the key to life; you have all sorts of notes for everything you feel in your life be it happiness, joy, anger, sadness, guilt or any such feeling/emotion. So music is life. And the best thing for me is, it keeps me motivated
You’ve heard of term "starving artists” before, how do you cope with major obstacles?
Keep trying, never lose hope, and give your best every time. Some people say charging for my art is selling out my talent. I say when you can pay $2 for a beer to keep yourself high just for one single time, why not try listening to my album by paying 4$ and get high on it that forever!!
How you are feeling after getting 15,000+ views and how did you get the idea of making T20 team anthem?
I personally feel proud to make this anthem cheering up for India. I want whole India to cheer our team with this anthem. It was my rapper and lyricist Armaan Azaad’s idea that came up with this concept, and our team’s effort that made the video. I would like to mention special thanks to Sonu, who kept us going through out the time.
Who inspired you and are you working on any projects?
My inspiration is my mom. I always make her listen to whatever my works are and only then I proceed further. And yes, I’m currently working on my own album.
