Khairatabad: Bhoolaxamma Nallapochamma is a small, old temple located at Khairatabad main road on National Highway 65. Most of the buildings were demolished because of the road widening project by the Metro rail but the temple has stayed on the road, because of which during the peak hours turns the road into a total chaotic mess.
Pillars of the temple were grounded a few months ago with a poster of local MLA representing Khairatabad Chintala Ramachandra Reddy who took the initiative to build the temple, and thereafter work was stopped after building boundary walls and pillars. There has been no progress in the construction work since past three months.
When enquired the MLA says, “we are developing the temple for the next five years as it is a part of our Badi-Gudi scheme and the construction work is at halt because we are planning to shift the temple to a new location which would probably be the old building situated beside to the Directorate Of Economics And Statistics building. Considering that it is a National Highway so we and the Mayor together are planning to relocate the temple”
A juice hawker who is employed near the temple since past 20 years says traffic is all because of the road widening, for the past few days people are taking enough liberty to park their cars resting in the shades of the temple. Head constable Srinivas from the traffic police department says “there is a lot of traffic problem during college hours as there are colleges on this road. He added peak times are also “troublesome”.
A Xerox store owner near the temple says that the temple was private property and the land belonged to the R.K music store owners and the boundary wall was built when the road widening took place. He also added next to the temple was a hotel called Premier café which was demolished by the road widening project and the road you see on the other side of the temple is built on the land where the café existed.
However, as a part of the Badi-Gudi scheme the BJP MLA has embarked on developing schools and temples. “We are renovating old temples and also building new ones at various locations in our constituency like Sai Baba temple at Prem Nagar Road Khairatabad, Sita Ramanjaneya Swamy Temple at Road no 10 Banjara Hills.
We are also planning to build four temples at Himayat Nagar and renovate many others with compound walls with the other civic and infrastructural facilities. We are also planning to build government school at Chintal Basti which is currently a rented building, apart from this we are also providing evening snacks for about 147 students of 10th class who take special class at Saraswati Vidya Mandir government high school at Film Nagar”, Reddy added.
