 National Science Day was celebrated by the District Science Department at Medak Collectorate on Wednesday. District Joint Collector G Nagesh graced the occasion as chief guest and gave away the prizes to the students from various schools in the district who participated and won in the completions of essay writing, eloquence, seminar and painting.

Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Collector said that National Science Day is celebrated every year to encourage young scientists in India in the honours of physicist Sir C V Raman for his legacy who discovered 'Raman Effect' on 28 February 1928.

Students need to develop scientific attitude and follow in their lives to eradicate superstitions established in the society. Medak district science department is working well and is shining in this aspect at the national level which is quite laudable.

DRO Ramulu said students should get inspired from the scientists with discipline and dedication for the contribution for sustainable development in the food productivity in the country. District Science Department official thanked the Deputy Speaker Padma Devendar Reddy, Joint Collector Nagesh for their cooperation in organising Science Day Programme which was also attended by Nodal Officer Madhu Mohan, and teacher Sathya Rao and others.

Science Day celebrated

Siddipet : Siddipet Government Degree College observed National Science Day hosted by the Physics Department on Wednesday. College Principal A Srinivas Reddy encouraged students to pursue their studies not only for the examinations point of view but also for the betterment of lifestyle. India needs to progress yet in terms of science and technology, he said.

Academic Coordinator Dr Gopala Sudarshanam explained to the students about key information and data on Science and Research field including primary awareness on Research Methodology. Having innovative thoughts are the currency for the 21st century, said the Dean of English Department A V Sharma.

Later, the students, who won in the competitions of essay writing and eloquence, were presented prizes in the program in which the HOD of science department Naveen, lecturers Bairaiah, Vinay, Balraj, Srinivas, karnakar, Imran and students participated. Prizes were distributed for the students who won in the two-day Inter Zonal Competitions for Men held as part of Centenary celebrations of Osmania University.
