Speaking to The Hans India, he listed out the precautions to be taken and emergency remedial treatment should be given on the spot to the sun-stroke patient.

What are the symptoms of sun stroke?

Skin becomes dry and sun stroke patient will complain of nausea and vomiting. Experiencing extreme weakness, the patient will zone out and finally, lose his or her consciousness.

What precautions should be adopted to avoid sun stroke?

Those who go out in the sun should compulsorily wear caps or cover their head with a towel. It is advisable for women to carry an umbrella along with them. The aged are advised to venture out of their homes either in the mornings or in the evenings. People should drink enough water to save themselves from dehydration.

What drinks do you advise patients to take during summer?

Fruit juices, coconut water, butter milk, gruel are advisable.

What do you suggest to those who had to travel under hot sun?

The riders of two-wheelers should compulsorily wear goggles and helmets to protect themselves from the harsh sun.

What first-aid should be given to the sun-stroke patient?

First measures should be taken to reduce his/her body temperature. His body should be made wet with cold water or cool water vapour. His/her body should be covered with a think cloth doused in ice-water. Ice cubes should be placed underneath the shoulders and in the loin. He should be immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
