Parigi: A 50-year-old farmer on Monday died of heart attack as the forest department officials laid claim to the land which is being cultivated since his ancestors.
He was identified as Kamaram Narsimlu of Mandipal village in Kulkacharlamandal of Vikarabad district.

According to the forest department, Narsimlu was one of the 70 farmers who have been illegally cultivating 80 acres of the forest lands. But, farmers of several villages have been tilling the said lands for the past forty years or so.

Parading the body of Narsimlu, bereaved family members and people of surrounding villages staged a demonstration at Kulkacharla cross roads on the Parigi-Mannar road finding fault with the forest department officials’ decision.

Claiming to be having documents for the lands that they have been tilling, they demanded justice to them. Otherwise, they asserted that they would have no alternative except committing suicide if the forest officials take such drastic decisions.
