Hyderabad: Despite the Telangana government banned open burning of waste material recently, people here are continue doing it often. The open burning of waste is disturbing residents and people around.
In ‘Secunderabad’ the fire was set in an open place near the small shop at Ranigunj on Monday. Piles of waste in plastic had been dumped. Though people have been complaining to the officials, there is no response. Number of people have been affected by this huge fire. On Monday people again complained to the officials. The people demanded that dumpsite to be shifted immediately from the spot.
Kantha, a resident said, “It is very rarely seen that the GHMC workers collect the garbage from the residents which is resulting in people throwing garbage on roads. Once the garbage gets piled up this becomes a regular activity.
The illegal dumping is resulting in contamination of the ground water and nothing much seems to have been done to resolve the problem. I have been addressing this issue to the officials, but no action has been taken since a long time, she said.
Saritha the resident said, “We are unable to even open our doors or windows. It is difficult for us to go the grocery shops to buy anything as this is making our life hell. But never knew people would react in such manner that they would come down to this level by not realising how people are affected by that smoke of wastage burn.
