Uppal: Roads in Fourth Division of the Uppal circle in Chilkanagar, Habsiguda, Ramanthapur and Uppal which have been dug up for laying the Mission Bhagiratha pipelines and remain in disuse because of the incomplete work are causing severe hardship to both pedestrians and vehicle-users. With the drains overflowing onto roads their problems have been compounded, as the pathways have become slushy causing untold hardship to the local residents.
Almost all colonies in the Uppal circle are facing this problem. Many complaints have been lodged in the MyGHMC App, besides written notes and telephonic messages. Yet there has been no response from the GHMC, HMWS&SB, local residents complain while speaking to The Hans India.
The main reason for this is said to be lack of coordination among the officials of GHMC and HMWS&SB in completing the pending road work after testing the pipelines. The residents want officials concerned to take immediate steps to solve the problem.
Residensts of Venkatreddynagar have complained about the overflowing drain water from a residence opposite Powergym in Srinivaspuram main road. They said the drain water is getting mixed with that of Hemachandra Apartments, because of the negligent attitude of the officials. The residents apprehend that the overflowing drains in residential areas may spread serious epidemics and contaminate drinking water.
They point out that many children are being hospitalised after consuming this water. The residents have appealed to the authorities to attend to the serious problem by setting right the drainage system.
