The official expressed his happiness over the visit to the field of wine palm and date trees planted and cultivated by local toddy tapper in his 3 acre land and said that the picturesque toddy grove was commendable job.

The official expressed his happiness over the visit to the field of wine palm and date trees planted and cultivated by local toddy tapper in his 3 acre land and said that the picturesque toddy grove was commendable job.

The natural toddy tapped from the date and palm trees is good for health scientifically and the state government was also encouraging the toddy farmers by distributing 2.5 crore plants for free with drip irrigation facility on subsidy so far to curb the adulteration, said the Excise official who tasted the natural wine at the field.

Akun Sabarwal, who was accompanied by Excise Department Deputy Commissioner Shastry and Superintendent Srinivas Reddy and CI Ashok Goud, mentioned that so far, the toddy tappers who were injured in their profession in the state were awarded Rs. 13 crore as compensation. The farmers should move forward and avail the subsidies from the governments to grow date and wine palm trees for the production of pure toddy for the consumers and their health.
