Musheerabad: Academician and civil rights leader Prof. Haragopal on Sunday cricitised Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for being in the forefront to deprive the people of their basic human rights.

Speaking to press persons at a meet organised by the Telangana Prajaswamya Vedika (TPV), he recalled KCR’s statement that there would be no encounters if Telangana was formed , while referring to the recent encounter killing of Maoists on the Telangana-Chattisgarh border.

Prof. Haragopal accused KCR of resorting to restrictions on the public as the 2019 elections were fast approaching. He condemned the curbs, while questioning as to whether the police restrictions on the Sunday’s million march rally was necessary. He said three programmes called by the Telangana JAC have been denied police permission after the formation of Telangana and its leaders arrested. This, Prof Haragopal, asserted showed the government stand towards public protests.

Others present at the press meet Prof. P L Vishveshwar Rao, Sandhya, CPI (ML New Democracy) leader Govardhan, Chikkudu Prabhakar criticised KCR for the removal of dharna chowk in Hyderabad. They contended that the TRS government had no moral right to continue in office after resorting to severe public restrictions and encounters, more than those witnessed during the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
