Jubilee Hills: Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday complimented the students and faculty of JNTU-H computer science department for striving to achieve public awareness on cancer as many lives were being lost because of failure to detect the disease early.
Speaking as the chief guest at the launch of the 3k cancer awareness run by the students and faculty of the JNTU-H College of Engineering from the KBR park main gate, he pledged the government’s support to such activities.
Another guest, SC, ST Commission Chairman Yerrola Srinivas stressed the need for conducting such awareness programmes in rural areas.
Towards achieving this aim, he said, the government was making efforts.
Vice-Chancellor JNTU-H Prof A Venugopal Reddy stated that if detected early it would be possible to treat cancer cases successfully thanks to latest technical and medical advances.
Among those who took part in the run were representatives of Omega Hospitals, college Principal Prof. Saibaba Reddy, department head Prof. R Sridevi, Quest-2018 Coordinator Prof. E Hemalatha, cine playback singer Anudeep.
