Ramayampet: People in several villagers in Ramaymapet mandal of Medak district have been hardly sleeping in the night time form past two months due to life threat from a stray leopard.

The leopard had been wandering in the village and attacking leashed domestic animals during night times in the areas of Laxmapur, Thonigandla, Cyattral, Sutharpally, Jhansilingapur, Akkannapet villages. The farmers of these villages are frightened to go to their fields due to fear of attack by the wild animal.'

In the past, farmers complained to the forest officials after they found a leopard wandering and attacking the cattle in the village of Chinna Shankarampet mandal. The forest department officials arranged two cages with CC TV cameras and trapped the wild animal within two days. Instead of taking it to Zoo Park, the officials left the leopard into the forest near to Pocharam Abhayaranyam. The villagers allege that the same leopard has come back from the forest and is attacking their cattle.

The locals of Ramayampet mandal urged the forest officials to save them and their cattle from the attack of the wild animal by setting up cages in the area. Meanwhile, the forest Range official Khutbuddin said there might be more than one leopards wandering in the area and it will be caught soon with immediate actions to save the locals.
