In a response to ‘Chalo Gandhi Bhavan’ call by the Congress party in a protest to the suspension of 11 Congress MLAs and cancellation of memberships of two MLAs Komati Reddy Vekat Reddy and Sampath Kumar from the Legislature on Monday, scores of party activists and supporters were arrested by the police in advance on Wednesday across the district. 

Sangareddy: In a response to ‘Chalo Gandhi Bhavan’ call by the Congress party in a protest to the suspension of 11 Congress MLAs and cancellation of memberships of two MLAs Komati Reddy Vekat Reddy and Sampath Kumar from the Legislature on Monday, scores of party activists and supporters were arrested by the police in advance on Wednesday across the district.

Keeping in view of occurrence of untoward incidents and law and order problems, police on Tuesday night, arrested several local leaders and activists and shifted them to the respective police stations for the day.

The activists belong to Youth Congress in Jogipet, who strongly condemned the ruling party’s attitude towards the Congress MLAs in Assembly, staged a sit-in protest before burning the effigy of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao while shouting slogans against the government and KCR.

As many as 95 leaders and supporters of congress party from Husnabad, Siddipet and Gajwel mandals were taken into the custody on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in the jurisdiction of Siddipet Commissionerate. Similarly, the protesting cadre of Congress party from Medak and Sangareddy areas was also arrested for the day thwarting them from participating in Wednesday’s Chalo Gandhi Bhavan.
