Zoomcar brings smart cycle in city

Zoomcar, India’s first self-drive mobility platform announced the launch of smart cycle sharing service PEDL in the city recently. PEDL will serve the local use cases for metro passengers and residents looking to commute short distance, errand running, grocery shopping and solve the purpose for last mile connectivity. DVS Raju, Chief Electrical Engineer and Chief Electrical Inspector and Rajeswar, GM for Metro Hyderabad attended the launch event.

Zoomcar has deployed over 100 cycles which are spread across Metro Stations including Begumpet, Prakash Nagar, Rasoolpura, Paradise in the city. Zoomcar is promoting the service at an introductory price of Re. 1 /hour with zero security deposit. Users can download the Zoomcar android app, find cycles at the nearest PEDL station and scan the QR code on the cycle to unlock.

Greg Moran, CEO, and Co-founder, Zoomcar, said “The response to PEDL during the pilot in Hyderabad has been overwhelming with over 2000 bookings daily. The collaboration with Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited is an easy access to commuters looking to pedal around a short distance from metro station.

In next 6 months, we will cover most of the metro stations in Hyderabad with over 10,000 cycles so that people can have access anywhere,”PEDL cycles come with various unique features such as custom designed lightweight alloy frames and drum brakes, anti-slip chains, airless solid tyres, height adjustable seats and multipurpose basket.

These cycles are designed to support intense use while ensuring industry low maintenance costs and extremely high levels of customer satisfaction. These cycles are built with smart locks which can be easily unlocked using a QR Code. PEDL’s robust IoT stack is an extension of Zoomcar’s Cadabra IoT platform and includes real-time GPS tracking, solar battery charging, and built-in alarms.
