Charminar: Finally, the Metro Train works would commence in old city after the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s assurance in State Assembly. The alignment of Metro Rail in the earlier proposal was in controversy following objections by several stakeholders.
However,

the prolonged agitation and increased demand by the people along with stake holders has yielded and pressurised the opposing political parties to back off.
Chief Minister KCR has announced that Metro Rail in Old city would be constructed as per the old alignment. Works on the JBS - Falaknuma 15 km stretch were launched in the year 2011. Works on JBS and Imlibun Bus Station are on fast track.

However, work on the six kilometer stretch from MGBS to Falaknuma was put in abeyance due to some technical reasons. There were objections that Metro Rail may cause damage to several religious structures on the way from Purani Haveli, Shalibanda and other areas.
However, many stake holders including private property owners come forward to welcome the Metro alignment. On the other hand several political parities come together to form a JAC for Old City Metro Rail.

JAC started protesting for the Metro and staged several dharna programmes pressurising the authorities to take a decision. Following the launch of Metro Rail first phase in city, the agitation intensified. They submitted representations, memorandums and demanded the state government to speed up works on old city Metro Rail. This has led the authorities to take a call and announce to commence the works.

Advocate Shafiullah Quadri said that no political party was against Metro Rail in old city but they were representing people's will. He said that if people are convinced that they will not have any problem, Metro Rail works would be welcome.
