Vikarabad: District Collector Sayyad Omar Jaleel on Wednesday directed RDO to take steps to safeguard lands belonging to the Chenchus and asked the officer concerned to take steps to relocate government girls’ hostel from the dilapidated building to a new structure.

Reviewing the implementation of development programmes for SCs and STs in his chambers, he directed the woman and children’s welfare department to take the orphaned SC and ST children under its wings and take steps to enroll them in the government residential schools. Identify suitable sites for construction of Banjara Bhavan, Ekalavya Bhavan and a government residential school for girls and prepare the proposals for submission to the government, he directed.

In atrocities cases, initiate steps to speed up payment of compensation to the victims, he said. Offering free coaching to the tribal youth in police constable and SI recruitment tests, he said that steps to impart coaching to the tribal youth to prepare them for the army recruitment test. He offered financial support to the SCs and STs in raising sheds for goats and cattle and sheds for pigs on the town outskirts and sought proposals for the same.

Availing the Rs 12000 financial benefit being extended under Swachch Bharat, he called upon the people to construct individual sanitary latrines to make the district free from the open defecation. Tribal welfare officer Hanmantha Rao, district medical and health officer Dasaradh, agriculture officer Gopal and representatives of Sc and ST organisations and Srinivas of civil society organisation Jagruti took part in the meeting.
