Malkajgiri: Even quenching thirst in the roadside shops during the hot summers is turning scary as centres serving juice and cold drinks are found using contaminated water to serve the customers. In a shocking incident, a consumer reported that he had found insects in the juice he had bought at a juice centre near Raghavendra Theater in Malkajgiri and said that when questioned, the shop owner gave a vague reply instead of apologising for the carelessness.
Thus, the customer informed the GHMC officials who responded quickly and held inspections at the centre to find rusted containers being used to store juices. Speaking on the issue, GHMC Sanitation officer Ravinder said that the centre has been seized for its unhealthy practices and that a fine of 5000 Rupees has been imposed on the shopowner for risking lives of the customers.
