The celestial wedding of Lord Rama with His Consort Goddess Sita was held here on Monday with pomp and gaiety in the undivided Ranga Reddy district. People celebrated the festival with religious fervor.  Temples were bedecked specially with electric lamps and garlands of flowers for the occasion.

In Vikarabad, the event was celebrated in the Ananta Padmanabha Swamy temple atop Anantagiri hills near the town. The wedding was celebrated on an unprecedented scale. People thronged the temple in large numbers and took part in the event. The temple surroundings reverberated with the chanting of Jai Sriram.

In Debbadaguda of Kandukuru mandal of Maheswaram Assembly constituency, the wedding was celebrated on a large scale by the temple committee, people, leaders of various political outfits, village elders and youth at the Sivarama Anjaneya Swamy temple.

Rangareddy Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Kappati Panduranga Reddy, zilla parishad floor leader Enugu Janga Reddy, Maheshwaram market committee member Jitta Rajender Reddy, MPTC member Yenugu Sravani and Debbadaguda sarpanch Jangaiah and temple committee chairman Manohar Gu Debbadaguda sarpanch Jangaiah and temple committee chairman Manohar Gupta and others took part. Manohar Gupta was felicitated on a grand scale on the occasion.

At Gattupalli in Maheswaram mandal, a sobha yatra was taken out under the leadership of the sarpanch Rakesh Reddy. MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy took part in the yatra and Sriramanavami celebrations. In Timmapur village of Kandukuru mandal, MLA G Kishan Reddy participated in the celestial wedding and wished everyone in the state to be prosperous, bountiful rains and bumper harvest. In Juntupally of Tandur mandal, people started thronging the Rama temple from morning. Transport Minister Mahender Reddy visited the temple and had Darshan of the deities.

Similarly, Young Leader Foundation president Rohit Reddy also visited the temple. According to Juntupally Rama temple officials, over 40,000 devotees thronged the temple during the past two days. The festival was celebrated on a grand scale at Lord Hanuman temple in Peddemul. The event was celebrated with dedication and commitment in Yalal, Basheerabad and other places.
