Deccan Park which lies beside Qutub Shahi Tombs attracts hundreds of visitors during summer evenings. Some of the visitors come with tickets and some trespass without any notice because the boundary wall which is lined with grills was broken years ago and never got repaired since then.  

Shaikpet: Deccan Park which lies beside Qutub Shahi Tombs attracts hundreds of visitors during summer evenings. Some of the visitors come with tickets and some trespass without any notice because the boundary wall which is lined with grills was broken years ago and never got repaired since then.

Deccan Park was sealed for years due to government litigations and it was renovated and reopened on July 10, 2017. Since then the park is open to the public and trespassers alike because the broken grills of park on the roadside invites intruders at night a few broken beer bottles can be seen at the location. A Security guard from the park said “Intruders break into the park at night and drink; apart from this some people enter the park without tickets”.

Office building was closed and staff workers said officials do not visit every day. A staff worker said “When we have complained about the trespassing activities a few months ago engineers made a visit with the officials took the measurements of the location and never came back”.

Another staff worker said “Many children visit the park and there is nothing for children’s entertainment. The residential colonies like Mohalla Gunj, Resala Bazar, and other residents nearby Tolichowki and Shaikpet had complained about this because most of the visitors avoid visiting the park for the second time. Likewise the toy train was functional earlier is now decayed and rusted”.

A visitor to the park Sarfaraz said “there are no equipment for children’s entertainment. Moreover the park officials do not allow any kind of playing objects like bat and ball inside the park, and there is no canteen inside the park which makes it a unpleasant destination for children”.
