On the occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti, Digambar and Shwetambar Jains celebrated Mahaveer Jayanti with utmost reverence and respect to their last Tirthankar, here on Thursday. Majestic chariot processions were carried out across the city with the images followed by thousands of devotees while chanting prayers, live orchestra and music.

Hyderabad: On the occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti, Digambar and Shwetambar Jains celebrated Mahaveer Jayanti with utmost reverence and respect to their last Tirthankar, here on Thursday. Majestic chariot processions were carried out across the city with the images followed by thousands of devotees while chanting prayers, live orchestra and music.

The Shwetambar Jains commenced the procession from Shri Kunthunath Jain Temple and reached Shree Parshwa Padmavathi Jain temple, while the Digambar Jains commenced the procession from Begum Baazar Jain Mandir and reached Agapura Jain Mandir.

The procession witnessed thousands of people, multiple chariots, live orchestra and music. Post reaching Mandir, ceremonial bath was offered to the deity of lord Mahaveer. The temples were lavishly decorated with flags to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Mahaveer.
